OPEN KARARTE LESSON – December 11, Tuesday 5.00-6.30 pm

Posted on: December 11th, 2012 by lalanzini No Comments

Dear all,

we would like to inform you about this activity arranged by professor Hooper:

OPEN KARATE LESSON – Tuesday December 11, From 5.00 till 6.30 pm

As part of the course on “The Origins and Development of Japanese Martial Art and Western Interpretation”, the students are engaging in pratical sessions of karate. The aim of these sessions is to introduce the fundamentals of karate techniques, and intorduce something of the traditional teaching style and points of etiquette that you will find in any Japanese dojo.

Several people have expressed an interest in the class, but have been prevented from participating because of clashes in the  timetable with other classes. Consequently, professor Hooper  is holding an open class to which everyone interested  is invited.

The class will be part of the regular course (attendance is compulsory for all members of the class), and should give everyone an idea of what karate is and how it is practiced. The students are generally all complete beginners, so having a lot of people spectating might be a little off-putting. You are, therefore, strongly encouraged to take part yourself rather then just observe!

Please wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes. The training is done in bare feet, and any jewellery should be removed.

If you have any questions prior to coming, please feel free to email professor Hooper (hooper@waseda.jp)

Look forward to seeing you,

Best

Lucia, Paola&Stefania
