Come join the Sports, Culture and Society class for a special capoeira workshop on Wed Oct 14th from 1:30 – 3:00pm.

Capoeira is a dynamic Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines dance, fight, play, acrobatics and music.
It was created by enslaved Africans in Brazil several hundred years ago and today has become a popular global practice.
The workshop will be led by Contramestre Marquinho, an accomplished Brazilian instructor who has been living and teaching in Venice for many years.
The worskshop will be held in the the inner courtyard (if the weather is nice) or in the large meeting room next to the inner courtyard (Sala Basaglia).  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to move in.  During the workshop you will learn some of the basic capoeira movement and music.
If you would like to learn more about capoeira’s history and culture, you may also attended Professor Katya Wesolowski’s presentation about it on Monday Oct 12th from 1:30-3pm in 9C.
