International Festival of Literature in Venice
Opening: Wednesday, March 29 – 5.30 pm – Teatro Carlo Goldoni
The 10th edition of Incroci di Civiltà, organised by Ca’Foscari University, will be opened by the Nobel prize writer Orhan Pamuk, in collaboration with Fondazione di Venezia e dal Comune di Venezia, Assessorato alle Attività e Produzioni Culturali.
The Festival will host 25 writers ready to share their different and unique worldview from twenty different countries: Argentina, Canada, France, Japan, United Kingdom, Haiti, India, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Libya, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Romania, Saint Martin, Slovenia, United States, Svezia, Turkey and Hungary.
This year’s theme will be “The Return”, a perfect fit for the difficult historical moment in which we are living. It is important to reflect on migration, forced exiles and the longing felt by millions of people all around the world to return home. “The Return” by Hisham Matar is a perfect representation of the chosen theme, and has already been praised by both the critics and the public.
Translation into Italian will be available for all events in other languages.
The books of the Festival writers will be available for purchase at the stand in Campo Santa Margherita, at the Festival’s venues, and at the partner bookshops Cafoscarina, Libreria MarcoPolo, Libreria Studium and Punto Einaudi Venezia.
