Hi everybody!
I know it is a little bit late but here you can find some of the photos I took on the 14st September and a little description of the Visit to the Squero of San Trovaso, the Remiera Rowing Club in SS. Giovanni e Paolo and the Berengo Furnace and Centre for Glass Contemporary Art Gallery in Murano.
Have a nice day

Squero San Trovaso
We had the great opportunity to visit a squero, that is the place where gondolas are made.
Some information:
It takes 2 months to build a gondola and it weights 500kg. It measures 11×1.40 meters and it is made with 280 different pieces of wood.
A gondola can last 30 years and it costs around 30.000€ or even more.
In this Squero, which is one of the oldest in Venice, they build just one gondola per year because it takes a long time and also because they do maintenance service.
Every 7 years they varnish the old gondolas and every 15 years they do a quite long maintenance work called “Fattura”.
The gondola is asymmetric. One side is different from the other to let the gondola go straight.
Every gondolier can customize his own gondola.
There are 425 gondoliers all around Venice.
