Venice Fortuny Factory-famous Fabric Production

Posted on: February 26th, 2013 by teastifanic No Comments

Dear Students,

There have been some changes regarding the co-curricular activities of this week.

On Wednesday afternoon we propose you the Concert of the XXX Laboratory of Music and digital technologies at the Music Conservatory “Benedetto Marcello”, in campo S. Stefano instead of  the Music Lecture and concert in San Servolo by Ezio & Anna Lazzarini  which has been cancelled and will be rescheduled during the semester. The students of the Conservatory will perform some pieces by Cage and other pieces composed by themselves that combine classical with digital and electronic instruments. It will take place at Palazzo Pisani, Wednesday at 5pm.

Just send an email if you want to join the group and we go together with the ferry departing 4.50 pm.

On this Friday morning,  we will have a guided visit to the Showroom of the Fortuny Factory of Fabrics in the Island of Giudecca which has replaced the visit to the Orsoni production of mosaics.

The Fortuny factory was opened in 1922. It was built according to the precise instructions of Mariano Fortuny and is still operative. We will visit the showroom and the back garden which has recently restored, unfortunately the production process is still kept as a secret by the owner but we can make all the questions regarding this topic.

Please sign the list on the door of the classroom corridor to confirm your attendance. Since the number is limited, the list will be available until Thursday at 5pm.

Kind regards,

Tea and Sara
