Meeting Point: 8.45am at Tronchetto (boat line 2)

barbaro emo

Come to discover two of the most amazing Renaissance buildings designed by Andrea Palladio: Villa Barbaro and Villa Emo.

Villa Barbaro, commissioned by Daniele Barbaro and his brother Marcantonio – Ambassador of the Venice Republic, was built by Palladio between 1554 and 1560.

The main building has a triumphal entry with four ionic columns surmounted by tympanum filled with decorations and stucchi. The Barchesse have two floors and a portico with five arches.

The Villa hosts Paolo Veronese’s frescoes with Bacco and Olympus’ rooms.

Villa Emo was designed by Andrea Palladio in 1558 for the Emo’s family. The building is completed by two Barchesse which host several agricultural tools, while the main entrance is located at the end of the paved path.

We can find Giovanni Battista Zelotti’s frescoes inside the Villa, which has been declared in 1996 World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
